Welcome to our first blog post in relation to all things Advocate.
The school holidays have now begun and the preparation for the forthcoming term is well and truly in motion. The sound of the scanner being whirred into action by Steph is a constant background noise and will be until the start of September.
It is a key element of our business to know our staff as well as we can both personally and professionally. During the summer months we spend a significant amount of time ensuring all our candidates are fully compliant with Safer Recruitment legislation and all our systems are as up to date as they can be.
We’ve also spent the first week of the school holidays planning for the next academic year including organising dates for our ever popular Coffee and Cake day plus mulling over ways to continue to assist our staff. I’m not too sure Deb was overly excited by our suggestion to complete short guidance videos and post them over our Social Media network!
In addition we’ve welcomed Alex Richardson into the office. Alex’s main responsibility is to develop our client base within our Education sector.
He brings with him three years of teaching experience and has previously worked in sales for a rather large multi national company.
Alex has also brought with him an enthusiasm for new music – something we are desperate to improve upon. We can’t listen to Elaine’s Elvis collection any longer! Alex visits ‘Kendal Calling’ this weekend and we hope he brings back with him some new tunes to fill the office with.
It’s always exciting to hear about staff summer holiday plans but this year is slightly more exciting. We are regularly updated with the wedding plans of our very own Steph.
Steph and Tom ‘tie the knot’ on 20th August 2016. I’m sure you share our thoughts and wish them all the best for the day – hopefully they won’t need the umbrellas.
Just enough room for me to be a little nostalgic – Advocate is now entering our fifth year of trading and I am immensely proud of the journey we have undertaken so far. Equally, I am continually excited by the road in front of us.
In creating Advocate I wrote down what we did and didn’t want to achieve as a company – one of those being; ‘not a bums on seat type agency’.
This week, without any prompting, one of longest serving candidates used those exact words in conversation.
So … that’s one of our targets achieved!
